MANUAL HOISTS

Manual hoists offer an economic alternative to electric hoists for lifting and moving heavy loads.  Typically they are best suited for infrequent lifts due to the time and force required to operate the hoist.  They also do not require power so they are ideal in applications where a power source is not available.

Manual hoists are great products to keep in your tool repertoire.

HAND CHAIN HOISTS (Chain Falls)

  • Capacities: ¼ ton to 20 ton+
  • Lift Lengths: 30ft+
  • Customized lift lengths and hand chain lengths available

Hand hoists are intended for vertical lifting only. They are considered a force multiplier, giving the ability to lift very large loads with ease by using mechanical advantage. Most hand hoists are used for infrequent maintenance applications where speed is not a requirement. They have 2 sets of chain, one is for lifting and the other is used to pull or lower the load. They are considerably less expensive than powered hoists, but require physical effort (pulling on the hand chain) to lift the load. They are not fast and should not be specified for continuous lifting applications, especially when long lifts are required. Several are light and small enough and considered more portable and allow them to be taken to the job site.

LEVER HOISTS (Come-a-Longs)

  • Capacities: ¼ ton to 15 ton
  • Lift Lengths: 30ft+
  • Customized lift lengths and hand chain lengths available

Lever hoists are intended for both vertical and horizontal lifting.  They utilize a handle design for operation in lieu of a hand chain, which allows the user to crank or rotate the handle to lift/move the load.  In addition to lifting applications, lever hoists are utilized for rigging applications to hold loads and rigging straps & chains in place.
